The Ricoh Aficio MP 5002SP is an A3 monochrome copier for printing, copying and colour scanning. Ricoh rates it at up to 50 Letter pages per minute and equips it with a 100-sheet automatic reversing feeder. Its standard paper supply is larger than that of a compact desktop multifunction printer.

Output and imaging

The machine produces black-and-white printed pages at a maximum specified print resolution of 600 dpi. It supports automatic duplex output for two-sided documents and paper sizes up to A3. The 50 ppm rating is for Letter-size sheets; A3 output uses a larger page format. Colour scanning allows mixed-colour originals to be preserved digitally despite monochrome print output.

Input and originals

Two 550-sheet cassettes and a 100-sheet bypass provide 1,200 sheets of standard capacity. The bypass is a separate feed path for supported alternate media. A 100-sheet reversing document feeder handles longer copy and scan jobs and can process two-sided original sets. Optional paper units can increase capacity beyond the standard tray configuration.

System hardware

Ricoh lists 1 GB of standard memory and a 128 GB hard disk for this model. The controller supports network printing and scanning, while the control panel presents the machine’s copy, print and scan functions. The larger paper supply, document feeder and hard disk work together for office jobs involving multiple originals or queued output.

Networking and options

A standard 10/100 Ethernet connection connects the MP 5002SP to the office network. Scan destinations include electronic delivery paths described in Ricoh’s brochure.
